The Madison Budget Office (MBO) reports directly to the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration (VCFA) and is responsible for all the processes, policies, and issues related to the university’s budget. This includes developing, reporting and implementing the campus’ operating plan. Serving as stewards of institutional resources, the Budget Office is responsible for:
- Operational budgets, allocation resource management, monitoring their use and reporting strategic outcomes.
- Forecasting revenue and expense and providing analytical context for planning assumptions and budget policies.
- Modeling the impact of System and institutional changes. Providing specialized knowledge on State, UW System, and UW-Madison policy and requirements.
